Spring: a lovely reminder of how beautiful change can be

Warmer weather, longer days, and clear skies are on the way! Celebrate spring by spending some much needed time in your garden.

Your roses should be growing fast and will need plenty of water and food to support their Spring growth. From the middle of September the main task is pinch pruning (To pinch a plant, you must do just what the term implies: pinch. Between your forefinger and thumb, you literally pinch off the smaller flower buds and/or weak leaves. You’ll want to pinch the plants’ leaves right above the leaf nodes on the branch.)

This encourages new basal growth, green leaves and root development. It spreads out the flowering cycle so that there is an almost continual supply of roses instead of one of two main flushes.

Fertilise your rose bushes with Atlantic Fertilisers Flower & Fruit. Flower & Fruit combines the best of both worlds; its organic base provides a full range of plant nutrients in a slow release form, whilst the carefully selected water-soluble nutrients have been added to maximise the performance of each application. Flower & Fruit is ideal for all flowering and fruit bearing plants (except indigenous plants and bare-rooted roses).

How to apply:

Apply Flower & Fruit evenly to pre-soaked soil around the drip line of the plant or tree and water again, well. Keep fertiliser at least 20cm away from the base and avoid contact with foliage or flowers. Apply after signs of new season growth and thereafter every 6-8 weeks throughout the growing season.

  • An increase in quantity and quality of blooms per bush
  • Increased resistance to diseases and pests
  • A more robust and healthy plant
