Newsletter – June 2024 – A Short History of Garden World

Garden World is situated on corner of Beyers Naude Drive and Rocky Ridge Road in Muldersdrift.

It is one of the largest and most well-known nurseries in Gauteng.  The grounds of Garden World contains multiple business entities, a venue that can cater to corporate events, weddings, birthdays, etc..  It also has a tea garden, a pub, a large children’s playground, and an animal farm for kids and adults to enjoy.

It offers events of all kind, and have hosted many television productions.  Well known personalities are also often seen frequenting the magnificent gardens.

Annually it hosts the Garden World Spring Festival that gives landscapers both known and unknown an opportunity to showcase their work to the public and to provide brilliant new ideas to freshen up a tired garden.

Garden World was founded by legendary landscaper, nurseryman, Andries Fourie who died on 29 July 2012 just days after the opening of the 2012 Garden World Spring Festival.

Garden World was officiated by Gary Player on 20 September 1985.

In 1994, Garden World was sold to Jan de Waal and John Mundell, who ran the business until 31 March 2024.

Garden World is currently run by Fanie Botha and Morné McCartney who will this year ignite the 2024 Garden World Spring Festival with a project team managed by Terry Moller.
